Abstract: I am happy to inform you that I appointed Fr.Mark A.Lewis (NOR) as Director of the IHSI. The Jesuit Historical Institute serves the entire Society of Jesus, particularly its historians and archivists. In accordance with its newly approved statutes, the IHSI will continue the work undertaken with such competence and dedication by Fathers Charles E.O'Neill and Laszlo Szilas, together with those in the Society who have been interested in its history. For this purpose, two new members, Marek Inglot (PME) and Martin Morales (ARG), have also joined the permanent nucleus of the Institute in Rome and will open it to new directions while preserving the tradition of scholarship as outlined here.....
