Abstract: As 1998 draws near, I wish you a Happy Christmas and a Blessed New Year, and I thank you for your good wishes and prayers on this happy occasion. In the context of the preparation for the Jubilee Year, 1998 is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. As true disciples of Saint Ignatius, we have every reason to welcome this invitation from the Holy Father. It is true that Ignatius, in the Spiritual Exercises, has little to say on the movements of the Spirit. He Could not do otherwise, lest he be accused again of illuminism. On the other hand, a cursory "reading of his Spiritual Journal is sufficient to perceive . how much Ignatius is guided and led by the Holy Spirit in his life and especially in his government, a spiritual activity because it is inspired by the Spirit.....
