Abstract: On the 31st July 1976 Fr. General Pedro Arrupe published a decree setting up the Eastern Africa Region, and ten years later Fr. Peter-Hans Kolvenbach set up the Province of Eastern Africa. In 1977 there were 60 Jesuits working in the Region of Eastern Africa, 47 of them ascribed members. In 1986, when the Region became a Province, the total number of Jesuits was 138, of which 66 were ascribed members. Today> after the recent intake of 13 new novices, the statistics of our Province are as follows....
