dc.description.abstractFrancis Cardoz was born in Mangalore, India, on 1 March 1933. He entered the Jesuit Novitiate at Vinayalaya, Mumbai, for the Bombay Province on 30 July 1956. After pronouncing his first vows, he continued on at Vinyalaya for Juniorate studies until 1960 when he moved to Pune for his Philosophy Studies. In 1962, he went on for Regency at St. Mary’s in Mumbai and, then, proceeded for theological studies at St. Mary’s College, Kurseong in 1964. He was ordained to the priesthood on 17 March 1967 and continued to complete his theological studies in 1968. After theology, he was assigned to pastoral work and teaching at Holy Family, Mumbai, 1968-69, and at St. Xavier’s High School at Neslik, 1970-71. Fr. Cardoz made his Tertianship at Kodaikanal in 1971. On 1 January 1976, Fr. Cardoz was definitively incorporated into the Society of Jesus being solemnly professed of four vows.en_US
