Abstract: No missionary of Central Africa can ignore the tragic reality of the AIDS epidemic. Men and women die of AIDS frequently at a young age in conditions of misery and abandonment. In Malawi the Jesuits have centered their efforts around an organization- FAMLI- which works towards the prevention of the sickness by insisting on family values and the adoption of natural methods of birth control.
