Abstract: | Fertile soil. Basically the whole missionary effort in the Kikwit Region has been inspired by the Exercises. The world "lugumbuku" (retreat, seclusion) frequently comes up in conversation among the Christians here. Actually, every important event in their lives has to be' prepared for by a "lugumbuku": baptism, first communion, confirmation and profession of faith, marriage. Add to these the major liturgical feasts of the year: Christmas, Easter, the Assumption.
