| Abstract: | «It is normal that in your province as elsewhere in the Society fostering vocations be considered a priority, for the future of the Society and of its mission is at stake». Thus Father Kolvenbach wrote in September, 1987, in a reply to a letter sent by the Jesuits in Eastern Africa. He then added the reminder: «While the number of young applicants depends first of all on God's free choice, we must do all we can to help God's call become more manifest and be heeded». That same year the author and four other Jesuits of the same Province were appointed to do precisely this work of fostering vocations. |
