Abstract: The following instruction for the Jesuits going to Ethiopia is one of St. Ignatius's most important missionary documents, showing deep pastoral sensibility. The stress is entirely upon patiently winning the hearts of the Ethiopians, both rulers and people, so as to gradually and tactfully remove their ecclesiastical abuses and solidify their union with the Catholic Church.
