Abstract: Rafiki is a Kiswahili word which is literally translated as a friend but in Jesuit circles it is referred to as a companion. As Jesuits we are companions of Jesus as we partake in the mission of Christ under the banner of his cross. Journals such as Rafiki marshals us to experience true companion-ship through which we are intimately united in minds and hearts when we share our consolations and desolations in quenching our thirst for God’s love. I, thus, suppliant-ly invite you all to enjoy the Rafiki issue published for the month of August which will indubitably enrich you with vast of spiritual experiences of the Primi which ranges from creative writing to poet-ry....

Abstract: The month of April was unique in more than one way. Firstly, it was the month in which we celebrated Easter. This is very important because the resurrection is the foundation upon which our faith in Christ is built. In this issue, you will find a brief coverage of Easter and the Holy Week in general. It is brief because of the second reason why April is unique: it is the last, complete, calendar month that our secundi will spend in the novitiate...

Title: Coronavirus Dent on the Formation Program
Authors: Musakanyi, Petronellah
Abstract: Every sphere and facet of
life has been hit ha~d by the
fierce Covid-19 pandemic.
The formation of priests
and religious is not spared.
The smooth running of the
programs of both initial
and ongoing formation
has been disrupted in
a big way. Seminaries
have been closed and
various formation activities
cancelled or postponed.
Also the suspension of
the usual celebration of
Holy Mass, confessions
and pastoral activities has
impacted negatively on the
formation programme. The
formation programme is
an essential tool because
its implementation aims
at the holistic formation
of an individual. If certain elements of the programme
are affected, then the
end product is also
compromised. This write up
focuses on the effects of
the coronavirus pandemic
on the initial stage of
formation, specifically the
novitiate stage.
